Review of the 2009 Jeep Compass

2009 Compass

Introduction
The 2009 Jeep Compass is built on a car-based platform. This should give a good indication of what it feels like to drive this vehicle. Like a car, it comes with a front-wheel drive, which provides great handling and driving dynamics. The Compass is one of only two Jeep models with a front-wheel drive configuration. The only other model with this drivetrain is the Patriot. In short, this is one of Jeep's two entry-level crossovers. Having debuted as late as 2007, the Compass is one of Jeep's few vehicles in this category. A slightly redesigned interior is the only notable change for this year. Another feature that is new for 2009 is the stain-resistant upholstery. Honda Element and Ford Escape are its two major competitors.

Exterior Design and Special Features
The Limited trim gets 18-inch aluminum wheels, while the Sport drives on 17-inch aluminum sparkle silver wheels. Other exterior features include deep tint sunscreen glass; rear window defroster; power fold-away mirrors; power windows with driver's one-touch down feature; remote keyless entry; rear window defroster; and fog lamps. Leather-trimmed bucket seats; heated front seats; height-adjustable driver's seat; manual driver lumbar adjust; front-passenger fold-flat seat back; AM/FM stereo with in-dash six-disc CD/DVD/MP3/WMA player; UConnect Sirius satellite radio; four speakers; steering wheel mounted audio controls; one-year Sirius radio service; 115-volt auxiliary power outlet; vehicle information center; interior removable/rechargeable LED flashlight; tilt steering column; and leather-wrapped steering wheel are among the two trims common features for its interiors.

Engine
The 2009 Jeep Compass is fitted with a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder, 16-valve dual VVT engine that has a power of 172-hp as standard across both its trims the Limited and Sport. These trims come with front-wheel or all-wheel drive configurations. A five-speed manual transmission is also common for these trims. The estimated fuel consumption ratings are in the range of 21-25 mpg for the 2009 Compass.

Safety
Electronic stability program; roll mitigation; tire pressure monitoring display; anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes; supplemental side-curtain front and rear airbags; Sentry Key theft-deterrent system; speed-sensitive power locks; and speed control are some of the standard safety features on the 2009 Jeep Compass.
